The First Yucatán Tour 2000

The tour that started the company. Ridden in the Yucatán in 2000 by a group of friends from Basil's fitness centre in Woodbridge, Ontario, it was organised and guided with Pat Alati — the friend whose own bicycle touring had drawn Basil into it, and who talked him into making a business of it — and with Joel, who came along to guide as well, being Mexican and far better versed in local customs.
Archive note: ¡El Tour's first tour, and the only one that predates the company's own paperwork: it survives in no web page and in no client database — that record begins with the 2000-01 season. Recorded here from Basil's account; the month is not established, though every later Yucatán tour ran between January and March. Pat Alati's entry in the original eltour.itgo.com guestbook, written from Woodbridge in May 2001, corroborates it: “I've cycled there either solo or as a member of Joel's and Basil tours the last 3 winters.”
